Astragalus bone

Description:

Ankle or knucklebone from a sheep used in games. The piece of bone has had a lead weight attached or inserted,and it appears that each side may have been weighted. Jacks or Knuckle bones is a game still played today,using five bones or bone-like pieces. Alternatively,another game involved marking number on the bones and using them like dice.
